Dr Rogers Matte-Head of Department Of Micro-Economics National Planning Authority (NPA)

Dr Rogers Matte-Head of Department Of Micro-Economics at National Planning Authority (NPA) was accredited by Public Opinions International with Uganda Who is Who Certification in recognition of his contribution towards attainment of Uganda Vision 2040 and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Dr. Rogers Matte holds a doctoral degree in Economics (PhD) from Makerere University, Kampala specializing in Public Sector Economics and International Economics.  He holds also two masters degrees, namely: Master of Arts in Economic Policy and Planning of Makerere University and Masters in Public Administration of Uganda Management Institute, and a Bachelor’s of Science degree.).

His research interests are in the areas of economic growth, public investment and human development.  He taught intermediate macroeconomics for a short time at Kyambogo University.

He has worked for 22 years in the public sector, accumulating wide experience in development planning, economic policy analysis and legislative practice.  He started his career in 1994 as an Economist at local government level at the inception of decentralisation in Uganda.  He left subnational development planning as a Senior Economist to join national politics and served as an elected Member of Parliament of the Republic of Uganda for the county of Ntoroko which he served for 5 years between 2001-2006 but did not seek re-election at the end of this term. The committee of parliament he served longest was the sessional committee of Finance, Planning and Economic Development. He later served the Population Secretariat (currently called the National Population Council) in the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development and left after four years as a Senior National Programme Officer in the department of policy and planning.
